Notes and recommendations
-Wash by hand with water removing all clay or mud, towel dry and leave to air dry.
-Do not leave your tools submerged in water or soaked.
-When using the tool on the lathe, you can submerge it in the water in the basin to clean it but then leave it out, do not leave it floating.
-Do not use chemicals or abrasives.
-Apply mineral oil and beeswax ointment or other special wood oil occasionally.
-For occasional maintenance you can use very fine sandpaper 320+ and ointments or special natural oils for wood, let the product dry 24h before use.
-If at any time you notice that the wood is rougher than you like after the first use or at later times, you can gently sand the surface with fine sandpaper 320+ and reapply protection for a smoother finish to the touch. This aspect does not affect the proper functioning of the tool.
-The final product may have slight variations in color and wood grain due to the use of a natural raw material.
The ultimate precision instrument for your finest work is here: the D-L1. When your work needs a lot of care and accuracy, this is the tool you will use. I designed the D-L1 as a high-precision tool for those small details that make a piece look professional. Its slim shape allows you to work on the clay with total control, whether you are fixing a rim or making clean lines at the base.
Each D-L1 is hand-carved in my workshop to ensure it feels balanced. Unlike larger tools, you can hold this one like a pencil, allowing you to "draw" and shape the clay directly. It is the perfect companion for cleaning up edges or adding sharp details that make your pottery stand out.
Why is the D-L1 so useful?
Precision shaping: The thin, straight edge is ideal for fixing small details and reaching tight spots that larger tools cannot touch.
Comfortable detail work: It is designed for a close-up grip, giving you a steady hand for delicate carving or trimming.
Artisan quality: I personally hand-sand and finish every tool. It is a wooden tool that feels warm and very responsive in your hand.
Ready for the studio: Made from strong wood and treated to work well with water, so the tip stays sharp and reliable for every project.
Simple and accurate: It makes it very easy to add those final professional touches that make your handmade work special.
