Notes and recommendations
Notes and recommendations
-Wash by hand with water removing all clay or mud, towel dry and leave to air dry.
-Do not leave your tools submerged in water or soaked.
-When using the tool on the lathe, you can submerge it in the water in the basin to clean it but then leave it out, do not leave it floating.
-Do not use chemicals or abrasives.
-Apply mineral oil and beeswax ointment or other special wood oil occasionally.
-For occasional maintenance you can use very fine sandpaper 320+ and ointments or special natural oils for wood, let the product dry 24h before use.
-If at any time you notice that the wood is rougher than you like after the first use or at later times, you can gently sand the surface with fine sandpaper 320+ and reapply protection for a smoother finish to the touch. This aspect does not affect the proper functioning of the tool.
-The final product may have slight variations in color and wood grain due to the use of a natural raw material.
Sharp lines and clean finishes: meet the R3. The secret to a professional-looking pot often lies in the spot where the wall meets the wheel. I designed the R3 as a technical tool for potters who want clean, sharp lines. Its triangular shape features a precise 90-degree corner, making it the perfect tool for creating sharp inside angles, cleaning up extra clay at the base, and making sure your bottom rings are perfectly straight.
Hand-crafted in my workshop from high-quality wood, the R3 is built for stability. The center finger hole allows you to apply pressure exactly where you need it, which is very important when you are shaping a shoulder or pressing a rim. Unlike flexible tools, the firm nature of the R3 provides a steady guide to help you keep the same shape while the wheel spins.
Why is the R3 so useful?
Precision geometric shape Features a long straight edge and a sharp corner for making technical shapes and clean lines.
Superior base cleaning The best tool for removing wet clay and defining the bottom of your pots with professional accuracy.
Comfortable anchor point Includes a finger hole that gives you a secure, non-slip grip for technical work that needs more pressure.
Artisan wood quality Hand-sanded and finished by me to ensure a smooth move that presses the clay without sticking or dragging.
Simple for sharp edges It makes cleaning your bases and making straight walls very easy, giving your work a more professional look.
