Notes and recommendations

-Wash by hand with water removing all clay or mud, towel dry and leave to air dry.
-Do not leave your tools submerged in water or soaked.
-When using the tool on the lathe, you can submerge it in the water in the basin to clean it but then leave it out, do not leave it floating.
-Do not use chemicals or abrasives.
-Apply mineral oil and beeswax ointment or other special wood oil occasionally.
-For occasional maintenance you can use very fine sandpaper 320+ and ointments or special natural oils for wood, let the product dry 24h before use.
-If at any time you notice that the wood is rougher than you like after the first use or at later times, you can gently sand the surface with fine sandpaper 320+ and reapply protection for a smoother finish to the touch. This aspect does not affect the proper functioning of the tool.
-The final product may have slight variations in color and wood grain due to the use of a natural raw material.

Master the "perfect undercut" with the D-CV9.

We all know the struggle: trying to get that clean, sharp transition at the base of a pot without making a mess or thinning the walls too much. That’s where the D-CV9 comes in. I designed this rib specifically for potters who want their pieces to have that crisp, architectural look where the base meets the body with total precision.

I spend my hours in the workshop making sure the angle on the D-CV9 is sharp enough to define your pot’s "foot" but smooth enough to glide like a dream. It’s essentially a shortcut to making your work look incredibly high-end. Whether you are throwing mugs, jars, or modern planters, this tool gives you a level of consistency that fingers alone just can't match.

Why this is going to be your new studio essential:

  • Architectural Precision: Perfect for creating that sharp, angled undercut at the base and maintaining straight, vertical walls.
  • Goodbye Wobbly Lines: Acts as a solid guide to ensure your profiles are identical across a whole set of mugs.
  • Hand-finished by me: Each D-CV9 is carved and sanded in my workshop. It feels warm, organic, and perfectly balanced in your hand.
  • Tough as Nails: Made from premium wood that handles water and friction like a pro. It’s built to be by your wheel for years, not months.

Warning: Using the D-CV9 might lead to a sudden obsession with "perfect feet" on all your pottery. Your studio mates might find you staring at your pot bases for way too long!
