Maintenance Recommendations
Wash by hand with water removing all clay or mud, dry with a towel and let air dry.
Do not leave your tools submerged in water or soaked.
When you use the tool on the lathe, you can submerge it in the basin water to clean it but then leave it outside, do not leave it floating.
Do not use chemicals or abrasives.
Do not leave your very wet tools to dry lying on the table or on the plasterboard; it is important to dry them after washing them with the cloth and leave them hanging from the hole or standing upright on their base, but always let air circulate around them so that the wood can expel any remaining water naturally.
Apply mineral oil and beeswax ointment or some other special wood oil occasionally.
For occasional maintenance you can use very fine 240 sandpaper and special natural ointments or oils for wood, allowing the product to dry 24 hours before use.
If at any time you notice that the wood is rougher than you like after the first use or at later times, you can gently sand the surface with fine 240 sandpaper and reapply protection for a smoother finish to the touch. This aspect does not affect the correct operation of the tool.
The final product may have slight variations in color and wood grain due to the use of a natural raw material.
SAFETY WARNING
Handle with care: Some tools have pointed ends. While they are not sharpened, they can cause skin injury if used or handled improperly.
Professional use: Keep out of reach of children. Use only for pottery purposes.
Shape your vision with impact: meet the P1.
The P1 is a fundamental instrument for changing and strengthening your work. I designed this professional wooden paddle to give potters the ability to press, flatten, and redefine shapes that have already been made. Whether you are making a round bottle square, creating flat sides on a large piece, or simply pressing the clay to make the walls stronger, the P1 provides a wide, steady surface for controlled shaping.
Hand-crafted in my workshop from premium wood, the P1 is balanced for comfort. Its smooth, hand-sanded surface ensures that you can move the clay without sticking, while the handle gives you the right grip for firm, intentional moves. This is an essential tool for any artist looking to move beyond simple circles and explore more architectural or unique shapes.
Why is the P1 so useful?
Structural volume control Designed to flatten or create flat sides on round ceramic forms with professional precision.
Balanced surface Features a wide, flat profile that spreads pressure evenly, preventing the walls from collapsing.
Comfortable handle design Crafted for a secure grip that helps your wrist stay relaxed during long work sessions.
Artisan wood quality Personally hand-finished to work well with water and stay perfectly smooth, ensuring it releases cleanly from the clay.
Simple for new shapes It makes it very easy to transform your pots into new geometries, giving you more creative freedom.
