Maintenance Recommendations
Wash by hand with water removing all clay or mud, dry with a towel and let air dry.
Do not leave your tools submerged in water or soaked.
When you use the tool on the lathe, you can submerge it in the basin water to clean it but then leave it outside, do not leave it floating.
Do not use chemicals or abrasives.
Do not leave your very wet tools to dry lying on the table or on the plasterboard; it is important to dry them after washing them with the cloth and leave them hanging from the hole or standing upright on their base, but always let air circulate around them so that the wood can expel any remaining water naturally.
Apply mineral oil and beeswax ointment or some other special wood oil occasionally.
For occasional maintenance you can use very fine 240 sandpaper and special natural ointments or oils for wood, allowing the product to dry 24 hours before use.
If at any time you notice that the wood is rougher than you like after the first use or at later times, you can gently sand the surface with fine 240 sandpaper and reapply protection for a smoother finish to the touch. This aspect does not affect the correct operation of the tool.
The final product may have slight variations in color and wood grain due to the use of a natural raw material.
SAFETY WARNING
Handle with care: Some tools have pointed ends. While they are not sharpened, they can cause skin injury if used or handled improperly.
Professional use: Keep out of reach of children. Use only for pottery purposes.
After several weeks of preparation, testing designs, and above all, lots of discussion about the type of tool we wanted to create, we're very happy with what we've created and are excited to bring it to you in the shop.
This tool is probably one of the most emotionally charged and heartfelt... from the beginning, we knew this had to do with Samu's passion for his plants.
The alocasia, its shapes, its leaves, the fluidity of the curves that form it—all of this is inspired by the shape you achieve with this tool, hence its name.
And after some time creating bowls, cups, and mugs... here it is, and I can assure you that when you try it, you'll be amazed. I get goosebumps just writing about it.
If that's not enough of an argument, let me tell you more:
- We haven't even used the cups we made with this tool yet because we think they're so beautiful we don't want them to get damaged xD
- You have four options with the shapes of this tool—yes, four! You can use it resting on the base, as you see in the photo, or on the top edge. This way, the result will have a wider or narrower opening, giving you a bowl-like or tumbler-like finish. This is just a suggestion, though; you ceramicists always surprise us with your creativity.
- I've improved the sanding process, and you'll feel really good even after using it and getting it wet. Plus, since it's made of incredibly high-quality hardwood, you can maintain it without any problems. You can follow the tips I'll send you, and you'll also find some on the product sheet.
- Both Samu and we have dedicated a lot of time to creating something truly high-quality and that brings real pleasure when you use it. It's really satisfying to create cups with it, and they're incredibly sturdy.
